$15 Scumbucket Grab Bag 1.20

1986 Topps Cecil Fielder
Fielder was one of the first players from my early collecting days who had a massive breakout season a number of years after his debut.  The mid-1980s were the era of the rookie card or bust.  Every year there were three or four new guys to chase, and then forget about last year's guys.  You never quite knew if you were going to hit it big with a Canseco, or lose your shirt on a Ben McDonald.  It was a new kind of fun, though, to go back into your collection and pull out a Cecil RC the year he made the chase for 50.  I would say Mark McGwire in 1987 was kind of like this, but he broke out sooner in his career and he already had some of his teammate's shine rubbing off on him.  Cecil seemed to come out of nowhere, though.

His rookie card can be yours, along with everything else in this post, for $15.
