Let's begin with the state of affairs at the Thorzul household. Life is looking pretty good right about now. I'm currently in the middle of a 4-day weekend, well deserved after a week of walking around like a zombie because I had two nights of parent-teacher conferences, several soccer practice nights, and an outdoor field trip immediately following a 12-hour day. The Hallmark Christmas movies started airing this weekend, my fridge is full of beer, and I've got the Packers on the tube as I'm typing this.
If you're caught off-guard by the photo above thinking you're seeing four Krustys, fret not, your vision is just fine. Yes, that's a JUMBO box. Topps hobby boxes have been undergoing shrinkflation like cans of creamed corn. It's ridiculous how little you get now. Eight packs of 3.5 cards?!?! Yeah, not going that route. I'm sick of coming up short on these Update sets. In fact, I'm still several cards shy of completing the 2021 and 2022 sets. Yup, Jumbo is the way to go, a guaranteed full set and lots of doubles to trade. This box really is a chonky boy. In fact, when my shipment arrived, it was making a huge dent in the extra hobby box I bought with this. Dave & Adam made good on the shipping mishap and sent a replacement box, which will join the others I've bought over the past several years, unopened, hopefully gaining value.
Okay, it's time to show what's up for grabs. This year I'm keeping absolutely nothing other than the full base set. From the perspective of a Brewers fan, this box was a dud. Not a single insert of parallel of one of the Brew Crew. That just means there's more for you folks. Here are the instructions, virtually unchanged since 2007.
1. Check out the list of available cards below. Select one (or a few)
you want. Just remember, the more you claim, the better your trade
material should be.
2. Send me an email with your choice of card(s) at bill13boehm@yahoo.com
Please don't leave a request comment on the blog. This just confuses
people, so don't do it, it will just be deleted and will not count.
3. I will reply to you as to the card's availability. First come, first serve. I will include my mailing address.
4. When I confirm the card of your choice, pick out one or more of your own cards or
anything else
you want to send me. A few guidelines about what you can't send:
Nothing that should really be in the garbage, nothing perishable, and
nothing illegal. (Notice I didn't say nothing immoral.)
I've got a want list you can check out, too!
5. Send me whatever is was you picked out. Don't tell me what it is before you send it, I'd like to have it be a surprise!
Include a SASE or you won't be getting your card.
6. When I receive your item, I will take a picture of the trade
materials and post the happy couple on my blog, and then I will send you
the card.
