Bidding Under the Influence #20

Date: November 4, 2022
Time of Bid: 10:07:01 PM
Card: 2002-03 Hoops Hot Prospects #HM-CM Corey Maggette Hot Materials Jersey Relic
Price: $0.99 (+$1.50 Shipping)
What Was I Thinking?:
Bucks Legend?  Yeah, right.
Duke stud?  Eff that, I hate Duke.
He helped Milwaukee get rid of Dan Gadzuric?  Okay, let's go with that.
I don't have a lot of basketball jersey cards.  In fact, I can't think of one offhand that's in my collection.  A peek into the relic binder might change that, but I'm not counting on it.  Maybe there are a couple of Bucks cards floating around.
Maybe I can just relish the fact that he once made Mr. K (not Coach K anymore) very angry for leaving the team before graduating.  I can live with that.

Trade Me Anything XVI: #1

On the days leading up to Thanksgiving, I started seeing packages pile up at the front door.  It was a short, two-day school week, but we had some sick kids in the house, so what should have been an easy week became a blur.  We had to get ready to travel up north, cram far too many visits into a short stay, then get back to Milwaukee, so there was no time for any TMA until today.  But now it's time.  Let the cartoons... begin.

The first trade of anything came from Jim, of whom I always think when I drive past a large water tower with WOODBURY painted on it.

Giving:
1987 Topps 35th Anniversary Refractor #T87C-15 Will Smith, 1987 Topps 35th Anniversary Silver Refractor #T87C-33 Jose Miranda (053/199),  #ASG-17 Ronald Acuna, Jr. All-Star, #GN-81 Joe Ryan Generation Now

Getting:
Lot of 11 2022 Topps Update Cards
I certainly do love knocking cards off the want list.

Field of Dreams Beer Coaster
This is a neat little memento.

A Bunch of Brewers
As usual, I will show off five of my favorites.
1981 Topps Jim Gantner AUTO
I remember returning to school one year in junior high when a friend of mine entertained me with tales of staying at some lake house/resort.  That summer at the lake he fell in love with some chick, but he had a rival for her affections.  He and this other boy were locked in a week-long battle to woo the same girl.  For the life of me I can't remember who came out on top, but I do recall that this romantic rival was supposedly Jim Gantner's nephew.  True story?

1993 Topps Gold Kenny Felder
Kenny was the second Felder in the Brewers organization in a short amount of time.  Mike "Tiny" Felder was a dependable outfielder who was famously shown blowing a bubble on his 1990 UD card, but left the team after the 1990 season.  Kenny, however, progressed only as far as AA ball, one of myriad reasons why my team had to wait 26 years between playoff appearances.

2022 Topps 1987 Topps 35th Anniversary Refractor Andrew McCutchen
Just a fun guy to have on the team last year.  Will he be back?

2022 Topps Pristine Corbin Burnes
Those All-Star uniforms were as ugly as the second half of the Brewers' season.  Let's start and finish strong in 2023.

2019 Topps Pristine Christian Yelich
There was a span of time when I was sure Yelich was going to be considered the best Brewer of all time.  Sadly, his flame has flickered out, and I don't think he's going to light it again.  I'd love to be wrong about this.

This was a great trade, Jim.  Please enjoy your cards as much as I do mine.

Trade Me Anything XVI Has Arrived!

This is a really good part of the year.  Right around Halloween weekend each year, life stops being one of those insanely difficult Mario Maker levels you might have seen where nearly every square inch of screen space is covered in rotating blades of fire, and starts feeling more like World 1-1.  (Or at least maybe like something in World 4 or 5.)  Two kids' soccer seasons are over (well, it's never over, just scaled back to one practice a week and no weekend games yet), parent/teacher conference nights are in the rear view mirror, and the weather starts to cooperate with a guy like me whose internal thermostat always runs hot.  I can see Thanksgiving in the not-too-far-off distance, and a nice Christmas break soon after that.  The Packers suck, the Bucks are laying waste to the league without two of our best shooters, and we're mere weeks away from rightfully reclaiming Paul Bunyan's Axe.  Oh, and the World Cup will provide a nice distraction, too.

This is also Trade Me Anything season.  This year this oldest child of mine is old enough to get her driver's license.  Come celebrate TMA's Sweet Sixteen by trading me absolutely anything.  Rules, as always, are below.

1. Check out the list of available cards below. Select one (or a few) you want. Just remember, the more you claim, the better your trade material should be.

2. Send me an email with your choice of card(s) at bill13boehm@yahoo.com or DM me on Twitter @THORZUL
Please don't leave a request comment on the blog. This just confuses people, so don't do it, it will just be deleted and will not count.

3. I will reply to you as to the card's availability. First come, first serve. I will include my mailing address.

4. When I confirm the card of your choice, pick out one or more of your own cards or anything else you want to send me. A few guidelines about what you can't send: Nothing that should really be in the garbage, nothing perishable, and nothing illegal. (Notice I didn't say nothing immoral.) I've got a want list you can check out, too!

5. Send me whatever is was you picked out. Don't tell me what it is before you send it, I'd like to have it be a surprise! Include a SASE or you won't be getting your card.

6. When I receive your item, I will take a picture of the trade materials and post the happy couple on my blog, and then I will send you the card. Here are the cards you may choose from. Cards that have officially been claimed are in BOLD
